What is Seedance?
Seedance is ByteDance Seed's video generation family. Seedance 1.0 comes in a cheap Lite tier and a 1080p Pro tier; Seedance 2.5 is the current flagship, and the first widely available model that can hold a single shot for 30 seconds.
Two families, four price points
Seedance 1.0 Lite is the draft tier. 1.0 Pro gives you 1080p for about a third of 2.5's price. 2.5 is where the 30-second mode and the best motion live. Picking the right one is most of the saving.
Strong camera and motion control
Seedance follows camera direction — push in, orbit, handheld — more reliably than most models at this price. Describe the move, not just the subject.
Text-to-video and photo-to-video
Build a scene from a sentence, or start from your own image and add motion. Starting from a photo gives you far more control over what you get back.

How to make a Seedance video
Four steps, and the order matters more than any single prompt.
Start from text or a photo
Upload an image to animate it, or go straight to a prompt if the scene does not exist yet. Photo-to-video is the more predictable of the two.
Describe the motion, not the picture
"Camera slowly pushes in, her hair moves in the wind" beats "a beautiful woman". If you gave it an image, the model can already see the subject — tell it what changes.
Test at 5 seconds on the cheap tier
This is the step people skip and it is the one that saves money. A short draft tells you whether the prompt, the framing and the motion work. Re-run the winner on Seedance 2.5.

The headline feature: a single continuous generation up to 30 seconds. Costs about six times a 5-second clip, and drifts more. Worth it once the shot is locked.
480p and 720p
Draft at 480p (~$0.22/s), deliver at 720p (~$0.47/s). Roughly a 2× cost difference. For 1080p, Seedance 1.0 Pro is cheaper than 2.5 at ~$0.124/s.
Camera direction that lands
Push in, pull out, orbit, handheld, crane. Seedance follows shot language better than most models in its price band.

Landscape for YouTube, vertical for Shorts and Reels, square for feeds. Pick before you generate — reframing afterwards costs another take.
Photo-to-video that keeps your subject
Your image stays recognisable — the model adds motion rather than reinventing the scene. This is the highest hit-rate way to use it.
